International Voluntary Service (Edinburgh, Scotland) 12 months, start in February 2019 (or January negotiable)

The International Voluntary Service (IVS) is a UK-based international volunteering and development NGO. Founded in 1931, IVS has historically had a focus on developing projects that support peace and social justice. Our mission is to support the sustainable development of local and global communities across the world through the mutual exchange of volunteers. As the British branch of Service Civil International (SCI), IVS has coordinated the exchange of tens of thousands of volunteers across the globe ( SCI has partnerships in over 80 countries with the majority of core activity taking place in the EU. IVS is a membership organization, which provides volunteers with opportunities to vote on IVS policy and future developments. Our aims are to promote peace, social justice and understanding between people and nations through volunteer projects and activities, in which the cultural exchange and learning aspect are paramount. Our activities within SCI include sending volunteers abroad, as well as receiving volunteers who wish to take part in multicultural projects in Great Britain. We run both short-term (normally 2-3 weeks) and long-term (up to 12 months) projects.
